Guatemala is recognized the world over for its conservation efforts in preserving the spectacular deep sea sport fishing located off its dual coasts including Blue Marlin, Black Marlin and Sailfish. Guatemala is a true leader in the conservation of the billfish species.  With its catch-and-release program well entrenched in the sport fishing industry, Guatemala is one of the lead countries in the world practicing the use of circular hooks that do not cause damage to the fishery, thereby guaranteeing preservation of the sport-fish species abundant in its Pacific and Caribbean waters.
